Crook Neighbourhood Policing Update- Our local community speed watch volunteers have been out in the last couple week around Crook, Willington & Tow Law. They have monitored 378 vehicles and 42 were caught speeding and will be receiving warning letters. One speeder has been subsequently arrested for traffic offences. A drink driver was reported on Friday afternoon, officers attended and stopped the male. The male was breathalysed on scene and failed the roadside test, he was arrested and sent on his way to custody. He has been charged. PCSO Clark and PCSO Robson have been out conducting foot patrol in Tow Law. PCSO Smith and PCSO Harrison have been out conducting foot patrol tonight in Willington. PCSO Lane and PCSO Whitby have deployed the drone multiple times over the last few weeks. The drone is an essential piece of kit when it comes to searching for missing people and suspicious vehicles/people such as for poaching offences and off-road bikes. One of our deployments led to an off-road bike being sighted by the pilot riding around an estate. Steps have been taken to ensure the bikes aren’t back on the street. PCSO Turnbull and PCSO Robson attended a job where 6 adults and 2 children were rescued from a remote destination in the snow.
